Maanghang na Kwento

ISANG MAANGHANG NA KWENTO…

ha!ha!ha! isang kwento ang gusto kong i-share sa inyo. Isang sobrang napaka "spicy" na kwento. It happen last day of year 2011 (korek! memorable date di bah?)… sympre! New Year Celebration will not be complete kung walang media noche. I will share na rin how to prepare it.
Ingredients :
16 large size long green chili, siling haba, pangsigang
4 pcs. sweet ham slices, cut into strips
1/2 block 180g Eden cheese, cut into strips
lumpia wrapper
cooking oil

Dipping sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2-3 cloves garlic, finely minced

Wrapping batter:
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup water

Cooking procedure:
Filling:
Slit along the length of each chili and scrape off and discard seeds.
Rinse thoroughly with running water and drain.
Keep aside.

To Assemble:
On a plate place one piece of lumpia wrapper, place 1 chili at one end of the wrapper making sure when rolled the stem of the chili is exposed.
Fill the chili cavity with cheese and ham strips, fold ends and roll wrapper. Wet the other end with water to seal. Repeat process with the rest.

Wrapping batter:
Mix and blend well cornstarch and water together.

Dipping sauce:
Mix and blend well mayonnaise and garlic together, keep aside.

Frying:
Heat generous amount of oil in a wok. Now dip each roll in the wrapping batter and deep fry at medium to low heat in batches for 2-3 minutes or until the skins are crisp and turned to golden brown. Remove from wok and drain excess oil. Serve while the skins are still crisp with the prepared dipping sauce

Ok. Done! Ganon lang sya kasimpleng gawin . Pero teka wait… how come that I feel that my hands are burning? Oh no! whew! Ho!ho!ho!arekup na sobrang lupit…. Waaaaaaaaaaah!!! Whew! Waaaaaaaaah! Lahat na ng na google ko sa internet how to get rid chili burning ginawa ko na! it was a very tragic experience for me talaga (OA na kung tragic ang term ko pero yun talaga ang feeling ko waaaaaaaah!) sobrang ang hirap ng feeling na parang masusunog ang kamay mo na wala ka nmang nakikitang apoy! (whew!) gusto kong manapak, maghamon ng away, mag amok! para lng mawala ang atensyon ko sa nararamdaman ko (as in talaga!)…yun buti na lng after 8hours siguro nawala na rin sya(pero kalokah! Imagine how many hours akong nag tiis :’( I think the last thing na ginawa ko para mawala talaga yung nasusunog na feeling eh, nung nagpiga ako ng coconut oil (buti na lng me biko din kami na handa nun he!he!) pero in fairness! After nun medyo nakaramdam ako ng ginhawa… haaaaaaaaaay talaga!) well, na i-share ko lng tong kwento na to’ para just in case magkaron kayo ng idea na gumawa or maghiwa ng anything na merong Chili ingredients aware na kayo… (hindi na kayo magiging tanga na tulad ko he!he!) pero just in case it happens to you here’s some tip to get rid of Chili Burn.
How to Get Rid of Chili Burn
If you’ve ever handled fresh or dried chillies, you’ve probably experienced that burning sensation on your fingers and hands at one time or another. That painful, burning feeling comes from the capsaicin in chilies and chili peppers like jalapeños.
You’ve also probably found out that washing your hands in soap and water – however long you do it – didn’t relieve the burn. Here are some tips on how to get rid of chili burn.

1) Try dabbing some lemon juice (lime juice or vinegar will work too) on the affected areas.
Why this works: The citric acid in lemon and lime juice counteracts the alkaline in the chili’s capsaicin. This also explains why you only get chili burn from handling fresh or dried chilies and not chili sauces (because most chili sauces already has some acidic content in it, like lemon juice or vinegar).
2) Rub some oil (e.g. olive oil, coconut oil, etc) over your hands after cutting the chilies. Then wash off with soap and water.
Why this works: Capsaicin is oil-soluble, so rubbing oil over it loosens the compound.

* How to avoid getting chili burn in the first place *

    • Wear surgical gloves before handling chilies
Why this works: The waterproof barrier prevents the chili from ever touching your skin. Remember not to touch your eyes or face while wearing the gloves. Throw them away after use.

P.S try nyo na rin yung Chili Cheese and Ham Stick menu. Worth it nman yung nangyari sa akin. Masarap sya talaga (promise!)... J
